Stockton Men made the semi finals of the Over 50s National Cup Competition before lockdown began all the way back in March. Now that hockey has made to to stage 4 the competition has started again and they have their next game in Oxford on Saturday 5th September. Not wanting to go into this cold they requested a fixtures against us and with us never wanting to turn down a game of hockey obliged.
I tell you one thing it's been too long away from hockey! With a summer void of hockey that is usually filled with summer league 11-a-side and 7-a-side, 5 months off showed in the first half.
After a constructive half time we started the second half strongly keeping possession better and keeping the men out of our defensive half mus=ch more effectively.
We had two players making their 1st team debuts in Emma F and Jess I. These youngsters stepped up and showed why they have been picked to make the step up in level (keep up the good work ladies). Laura L also made her return after 18 months off after having her daughter Evie (welcome back Laura!) and smashed it!
All in all a positive outing, a good run around and lots to take away and work on going forwards... bring it on
